Holiday Hupdate

Goodness it's been a while since I've posted.

Let's see, I'll try to type after 2 1/2 glasses of wine. And a space bar that is notbehaving.

Exams done. Semester done. Grades good. Tired Yes. Feelings of Accomplishment Yes.

Rachel is home for the holidays and we are struggling to find activities to fill the day. She is in constant motion, and I can only play "Barbies" for about 20 minutes at a time.

Best ever: Mom and Dad are here for Christmas! When we decided to stay in YK for the holidays, they abandoned the traditional Toronto Christmas for the first time in what, 35 years? to come spend it with us. So far meals have been fabulous, lots of wine and one or two walks in -20 weather. Some shopping, although I am shocked that the shelves are starting to empty even before Christmas. Like, I was in a bookstore, and I asked about some new releases, and she said, well, things are getting a bit thin these days. I was thinking, but Christmas is still a week away! So better hope that most of my shopping is done, or expect some toothpaste or something as a gift.

Rachel is practicing her "R"s and "th"s. I was writing a whole post about how she mispronounces certain words consistently, like "free" for "three" and "Wachel" for "Rachel". Anyway, she is becoming more conscious of her words and is doing a great job. Now she says "Thursday" instead of "Firzday". She has gone a bit too far though and says "Thriday" now instead of "Friday". Hey, I'll take it.

We have our tree up, a sad little thing from President's Choice last year, for about $30. You get your money's worth, as I've already chipped two of the "legs" on the tree, and it is leaning slightly toward the window. But from outside you can hardly tell. We have a few nice decorations and a few cheap ones that are about 10 years old, and take up way too much space in our closets for 11 1/2 months of the year, so I think we will be tossing them out with the tree at the end of the season.

We are hoping to take the parents to see some northern lights, so we are going to try and do that on Christmas Eve. The really good lights come out late at night, around midnight, so we'll see if we can stay up that late. The winter aurora are really something to see, so we will make a true effort.

Okay, Rachel is now on my lap, so must sign off. Will post pics when I can.

Signing over to Rachel:
